Basic Knowledge of  SKF  Bearing
The codes of bearings consist of basic code, pre-code, and post-code. Basic code stands for the basic type, structure and dimensions of bearings; post-code stands for the complementary code which is added to the end of the basic code in case there are some changes happen to the structure, dimensions, sealing, cage, tolerances, clearances, packages, and technical requirements of bearings.

Angular contact ball bearings
ACD - contact angle is 25o;      B - contact angle is 40o;
Cc - contact angle is 12o;        CD - contact angle is 15o;
BE - BE - type bearings with the contact angle as 40o;
 
Double row contact ball bearings
A - the standard design for bearings with the outer diameter ≤ 90mm, and without filling slot, on which the glass fibre reinforced nylon 6.6 retainer is introduced;
E - bearing with filling slot on one side, through which more steel balls could be installed, therefore the bearing has a relatively high bearing capacity in both the radial direction and the axial direction;
 
Self-aligning roller bearings
CAC, ECAC, CA, ECA are used for bearings with large dimensions, and with the rollers arranged in a symmetrical way;
CC, C, EC are used for bearings with the rollers arranged in a symmetrical way and without flanges on the inner rings;
E - There is a lubrication groove and three lubrication holes on the outer ring, and there is a "W" in the post-code which is used to indicate the difference;
 
Cylindrical roller bearings
B - the bearing has rollers with their surfaces treated (full-complement roller bearing);
B4 - all the surfaces of the bearing ring and rollers are treated (full-complement roller bearing);
 
Descriptions of Common Codes of SKF Bearings
CA, CB, CC - universally-matched single-row angular contact ball bearing, which can be matched with other bearings at random; (tandem mounting, face-to-face mounting, back-to-back mounting);
In case of face-to-face or back-to-back mounting, the ratio between the internal clearance and its normal value is:
low (CA), normal (CB), high (CC);
-2F - pillow block ball bearing with dust-proof check rings on both sides of it;
-2FF - pillow block ball bearing with combinational dust-proof check rings on both sides of it;
G - commonly-matched single-row angular contact ball bearing. In case of face-to-face or back-to-back mounting, there is a certain degree of pre-load within the bearing before mounting;
GA - in case of face-to-face or back-to-back mounting, there is a relatively light pre-load within the bearing;
GB - in case of face-to-face or back-to-back mounting, there is a medium pre-load within the bearing;
GC - in case of face-to-face or back-to-back mounting, there is a heavy pre-load within the bearing;
K - tapered bore, with its taper as 1:12;
K30 - tapered bore, with its taper as 1:30;
-LS - bearing with contact sealing on one side of it, and there is not sealing groove on the inner ring;
-2LS - bearing with LS sealing on both sides of it;
N - bearing with a locking groove on its outer ring;
NR - bearing with a locking groove and a stop collar on its outer ring;
N2 - there are two slots which are face to face in the direction of the diameter on the chamfer of the outer ring;
PP - (supporting roller bearing, cam followers bearing) bearing with contact seal on both sides;
RS - (needle bearing) bearing with contact seal made of synthetic rubber or polyurethane on one side of it;
-RS1 - bearing with contact seal made of steel plate lined synthetic rubber;
-2RS1 - bearing with RS1 seal on both sides of it;
-2RS - (needle bearing) bearing with RS seal on both sides of it;
-RZ - bearing with low-friction seal made of steel plate lined synthetic rubber;
-2RZ - bearing with RZ seals on both sides of it;
-2RS - (needle bearing) bearing with RS seals on both sides of it;
-RZ - bearing with low-friction seal made of steel plate lined synthetic rubber;
-2RZ - bearing with RZ seals on both sides of it;
X - 1. the basic dimensions are modified so as to meet the requirements of ISO;
   2. (supporting roller bearing, cam followers bearing) cylindrical rolling surface;
Z - (non-friction sealing) bearing with dust cap on one side of it;
-2Z - bearing with dust caps on both sides of it;
-ZN - bearing with a dust cap on one side and a locking groove on the outer ring of the other side;
-2ZN - bearing with dust caps on both sides and locking grooves on the outer rings;
-2NR - it is similar to -ZN, and has a stop collar on it;
-2ZNR - it is similar to -2ZN, and has a stop collar on it.

X - 1. the basic dimensions are modified so as to meet the requirements of ISO;
   2. (supporting roller bearing, cam followers bearing) cylindrical rolling surface;

-2Z - bearing with dust caps on both sides of it;
-ZN - bearing with a dust cap on one side and a locking groove on the outer ring of the other side;
-2ZN - bearing with dust caps on both sides and locking grooves on the outer rings;
-2NR - it is similar to -ZN, and has a stop collar on it;
-2ZNR - it is similar to -2ZN, and has a stop collar on it.
 
[Retainer]
For the purpose to express the guiding method of retainer in bearing, the letter A and B may be added behind the post-code. A means that the retainer is guided by its outer ring, and B means that the retainer is guided by its inner ring. The retainer without the symbol is guided by the rolling elements.
F - steel or special cast-iron solid retainer;
J - steel plate press-formed retainer;
M - light alloy solid retainer;
MP - brass solid retainer;
P - glass fibre nylon 6.6 moulding retainer;
TN - engineering plastic moulding retainer;
Y - copper plate press-formed retainer;
V - full complement bearing (without retainer);
VH - full complement bearing constituted by non-separable rollers;
EC - the geometric configuration of the interior structure of bearing is changed so as to improve its loading capacity, the satisfactory contact and lubrication between flange and the end face of the rollers enables the bearing to support relatively higher axial load.
