FAG Bearing

   Basic Knowledge of FAG Bearing 

   The codes of bearings consist of basic code, pre-code, and post-code. Basic code stands for the basic type, structure and dimensions of bearings; post-code stands for the complementary code which is added to the end of the basic code in case there are some changes happen to the structure, dimensions, sealing, cage, tolerances, clearances, packages, and technical requirements of bearings.

[Inner Structure]
A, B, C, D, E - Inner structure changes
Example 1: angular contact ball bearing 7205C, 7205E, 7205B: C - the contact angle is 15o; E - the contact angle is 25o ; B - the contact angle is 40o.
Example 2: cylindrical roller bearing, self-aligning roller bearing, and spherical thrust roller bearing N309E, 21309E and 29412E, - reinforced type, with the load capacity of the bearing improved.
VH- full cylindrical roller bearing with self-locked rollers (the diameter of the assembled ring of the rollers is different from that of the standard bearing with same model)
Example: NJ2312 VH
 
[External Dimensions and Structures)
DA - separable double row contact ball bearing with two-piece inner rings;
DZ - cylindrical roller external-diameter bearing; example: STo17DZ;
K - tapered bore bearing with the taper as 1: 12. Example: 2308 K;
K30 - tapered bore bearing with the taper as 1: 30. Example: 24040K30;
2LS - double row cylindrical roller bearing with two inner rings and dust caps on both sides;
Example: NNF5026C.2LS.V - double row full cylindrical roller bearing with inner structure changed, with two inner rings, and dust caps on both sides;
N - bearing with a locking groove on its outer ring; example: 6207N;
NR - bearing with a locking groove and stop ring on its outer ring, example: 6207NR;
N2 - four point contact ball bearing with two locking grooves on its outer ring;
S - bearing with a lubrication groove and 3 lubrication holes on its outer ring;
All self-aligning roller bearings with the exterior diameter D ≥ 320mm are not marked with the symbol "S";
Z-- - technical requirements for special structures, which is ranked from Z11 to downward series;
Example: Z15 - stainless bearing (W-N01.3541);
ZZ - roller contact bearing with two outer ring riding cages on its retaining ring.
 
[Sealing and dust prevention]
RSR - bearing with sealing ring on one side of it; example: 6207RSR;
ZR - bearing with dust cap on one side of it; example: 6207ZR;
2ZR - bearing with sealed caps on both side of it; example: 62072ZR;
ZRN - bearing with dust cap on one side and locking groove on the outer ring of the other side;
2ZRN - bearing with dust caps on both sides of it and locking groove on its outer ring;
 
[Retainer and materials]
I. Solid Retainer
The symbol of "A" and "B" are put behind the code of retainer. A means that the retainer is guided by the outer ring; while B means that the retainer is guided by the inner ring;
F - steel solid retainer, which is guided by the rolling element;
FA - steel solid retainer, which is guided by the outer ring;
FAS - steel solid retainer, which is guided by the outer ring, and with lubrication groove on it;
FB - steel solid retainer, which is guided by the inner ring.
FBS - steel solid retainer, which is guided by the inner ring and has lubrication groove on it.
FH - steel solid retainer, which was treated with the process of carburizing and quenching.
H, H1 - retainer that was treated with the process of carburizing and quenching.
FP - steel solid window-shaped retainer.
FPA - steel solid window-shaped retainer, which is guided by outer ring.
FPB - steel solid window-shaped retainer, which is guided by inner ring.
FV, FV1 - steel solid window retainer, which was treated with the process of aging and tempering.
L - light metal solid retainer, which is guided by rolling elements.
LA - light metal solid retainer, which is guided by outer ring.
LAS - light metal solid retainer, which is guided by outer ring and has lubrication groove on it.
LB - light metal solid retainer, which is guided by inner ring.
LBS - light metal solid retainer, which is guided by inner ring and has lubrication groove on it.
LP - light metal window-shaped retainer.
LPA - light metal window-shaped retainer, which is guided by outer ring.
LPB - light metal window-shaped retainer, which is guided by inner ring. (in case of thrust roller bearing, the retainer is guided by its axis.)
M, M1 - brass solid retainer.
MA - brass solid retainer, which is guided by outer ring.
MAS - brass solid retainer, which is guided by outer ring and has lubrication groove on it.
MB - brass solid retainer, which is guided by inner ring, (in case of spherical thrust roller bearing, the retainer is guided by its shaft washer)
MBS - brass solid retainer, which is guided by inner ring and has lubrication groove on it.
MP - brass solid retainer with square pocket on it.
MPA - brass solid retainer with square pocket on it, which is guided by outer ring.
MPB - brass solid retainer with square pocket on it, which is guided by inner ring.
T - laminated phenolic tube-layout solid retainer, which is guided by rolling elements.
TA - laminated phenolic tube-layout solid retainer, which is guided by outer ring.
TB - laminated phenolic tube-layout solid retainer, which is guided by inner ring.
THB - laminated phenolic tube-layout pocket-type solid retainer, which is guided by inner ring.
TP - laminated phenolic tube-layout solid retainer with square pocket on it.
TPA - laminated phenolic tube-layout square-pocket solid retainer, which is guided by outer ring.
TPB - laminated phenolic tube-layout square-pocket solid retainer, which is guided by inner ring.
TN - engineering plastic mold-casted retainer, which is guided by rolling elements, with numbers attached to the code to indicate the different material.
TNH - engineering plastic self-locked pocket-type retainer.
TV - glass fibre reinforced polymide solid retainer, which is guided by steel balls.
TVH - glass fibre reinforced polymide self-locked pocket-type solid retainer, which is guided by steel balls.
TVP - glass fibre reinforced polymide window-type solid retainer, which is guided by steel balls.
TVP2 - glass fibre reinforced polymide solid retainer, which is guided by rollers.
TVPB - glass fibre reinforced polymide solid retainer, which is guided by inner ring. (in case of thrust roller bearing, the retainer is guided by its axis.)
TVPB1 - glass fibre reinforced polymide solid window-type retainer, which is guided by its axis.(thrust roller bearing)
 
II. Pressed retainer
J - steel pressed retainer.
JN - deep groove ball bearing riveted retainer.
 
III. Structure change of retainer
The number added behind or in the middle of the code of the retainer means that the structure of the retainer has been changed, and these numbers are only in the transition period of the bearing.
 
[Bearings without retainer]
V - full complement bearing, example: NU207V.
VT - full complement bearing with batching spheres or rollers, example: 51120VT.
 
[Grade of tolerance]
P0 - the grade of tolerance meets the requirements of grade 0 of ISO. (not marked)
P6 - the grade of tolerance meets the requirements of grade 6 of ISO.
P6X - the grade of tolerance meets the requirements of grade 6X of ISO.
P5 - the grade of tolerance meets the requirements of grade 5 of ISO.
P4 - the grade of tolerance meets the requirements of grade 4 of ISO.
P2 - the grade of tolerance meets the requirements of grade 2 of ISO.
SP - dimensional accuracy is grade 5, running accuracy is grade 4.
UP - dimensional accuracy is grade 4, running accuracy is grade 4.
HG - dimensional accuracy is grade 4, running accuracy is above grade 4 and lower than grade 2.
